Very thorough essay about energy metabolism in cancer cells. Thanks for making it easy to follow and understand.

You truly make me feel like I’m back in Med School again!

Thank you so much for sharing. It is nice to know for preventative practices too.

I’d be interested to read more about the contribution and effect of acetaldehyde on mitochondria and ethanol production from gut Candida and other species, their fermentation and how this effects mitochondria

There used to be a Gut Fermentation profile which was created by Dr Keith K Eaton and his findings regarding sugar free lifestyle I found very helpful

Thank you for sharing, Dr. Marik! I am delighted to know that I am on the right track with the supplements I am taking.

All this chemistry controlled by enzymes, but no mention of the impact of low body temperature on the workings of any of these enzymes,

Yet I’ve read that all cancer patients have low body temperatures — 95degF - 96degF for example — and we have seen in even early lab days the impact of heat on progression of chemical processes….

And low blood sugars and cachectic ?

MJ's avatar

Thanks for reminding us of that ‘‘cachectic’’ piece, b/c I once heard that cancer refugees-from-pharma had resorted to the SWEDE’s DISCOVERY of the 100% CURE of ALL FORMS of CANCER [back in the 1990s] in the Univ of Lund’s laboratories… MOTHER’s MILK..

So those cancer patients had found a HOSPITAL accessible to them, doing a HUMAN MILK BANK [initially for babies with inadequate mothers] who had milk going to waste and were able to ship it as needed…

The staff at one of those milk banks said that ALTHOUGH THEY HADN’T SEEN CURES, they noted that NONE of the EXPERIMENTING PATIENTS were victims of CACHEXIA nor of the usual FREQUENT VULNERABILITY to INFECTIONs…

Then one male patient in California with prostate cancer had found a private source of mother’s milk that was REDUCING his CANCER MEASUREMENTS, but when he switched to a milk bank resource [private one ran out] then the PROGRESS STOPPED and he found out that the HOSPITAL BANK was PASTEURIZING the milk…. So he went to the Health Dept THAT ORDERED the PASTEURIZATION and induced them to rescind that order for his supplies AND THEN HE COMPLETED HIS CURE….

with raw mother’s milk…. not just relief from cachexia…

And BTW, there are breastfeeding groups [found a network on FB] that seemed to be part of LaLeche League, and there were amazing women there who had produced prolifically —-because they had jobs and needed to package supplies for nannies or husbands to cover the hours they were at work—- and by weaning dates had big supplies in their freezers, and offered that to sell/donate to others with emergencies [like mastitis-fixing needs] …

It was amazingly educational to see the whole little industry that had developed so now there are a variety of wearable pumps, storage systems and shipping savvy…. oh my…

Aren’t the rest of the science research world even aware or interested, sure would like to hear what their assessment was…

Well, that may be accurate enough but not as easy to rectify b/c they are the chemistry in the ‘‘test tube’’ but rectifying the test tube’s temperature is easy PHYSICS… courtesy of FAR INFRARED like my sleeping mat…

Then for control, just keep a standard body thermometer by my bed,, check if my temperature at bedtime is on the low side by much [maybe 97.2degF instead of 97.9degF] and crank up my mat’s dial on how much heat I needed that got my body temp up the night before and adjust the dial as needed….

Then at least for that 8 hour period —when presumably my body is doing repairs, all those blessed enzymes will have the ‘‘excitement’’ needed to get repair work done… and my body will be relieved of its work to get my warm-blooded systems working… our fever-system?

I just asked b/c I was curious as to the identity of the blessed messed up enzymes being there where needed but not producing the wanted results and whether anyone had the idea of entertaining far infrared mats as cancer-PREVENTing…..

…..as well as a resource for cancer patients to marshal their own internal resources while blessedly sleeping, courtesy of 20th CENTURY ELECTRIC science…….... TTYL

Thank you, Dr. Marik. This is fascinating. It would be great to be able to get an integrated supplement regimen for a 79 year old male who does not have cancer. But would like to prevent it.

So enjoy reading about the pathways , thank you . Also enjoyed the podcast with Steve Kirsch and Dr. Kory . Ps Dr. Kory needs to let you talk more 😉 i remember the 3 of you at CHD in Ohio , several years back .

Very helpful explanation. I’m curious what your take is on sulforaphane during treatments that rely on oxidative stress. Any concern it could also protect cancer cells in that setting, or not really?

Bruce Thomson's avatar

A quick answer suggests that sulforaphane is a likely winner for helping to nurse a cancer patient back to health. The following are example questions directed to Google’s Gemini. As always, don’t over-rely upon chatbots; read human-generated evidence as well.

I asked Google Gemini two questions:

Does sulforaphane increase oxidative stress?

Among other things, Gemini said*:

“Selective Toxicity: While protective to normal cells, studies indicate that high doses of sulforaphane can induce high levels of reactive oxygen species (ROS) exclusively in cancer cells, causing them to die (apoptosis)”.

Sulforaphane effects upon cancer?sprouts,

Among other things, Geminis said*:

“Sulforaphane, a sulphur-rich compound found in cruciferous vegetables like broccoli and Brussels sprouts, see-

https://www.mdanderson.org/cancerwise/sulforaphane-benefits--how-broccoli-and-brussels-sprouts-may-help-reduce-cancer-risk.h00-159781968.html

https://www.mdanderson.org/cancerwise/sulforaphane-benefits--how-broccoli-and-brussels-sprouts-may-help-reduce-cancer-risk.h00-159781968.html

-has demonstrated a wide range of anticancer effects in laboratory and animal studies. While population studies link high intake of these vegetables with a reduced risk of various cancers, extensive human clinical trials are still needed to confirm its effectiveness as a primary treatment”

*I kept this reply short and to the point, so be sure to run the same queries with Google and see what else it has to say (warning: Google tailors its answer to the customer, so you won’t get the same answer as me).

Thanks for asking a very good question - Let me know what you can add!
