Thank you for this excellent post on doxycycline. As to a prior reply, perhaps a well considered regime of probiotics along side could mitigate the effects on the Microbiome. I wonder what Dr Sabin Hazan would advise.

I agree with you! Dr Sabine Hazan did an excellent interview with Del Bigtree and discussed the Bifidobacterium strains. The interview is worth the time to watch. https://thehighwire.com/ark-videos/bifido-bust-yogurts-dirty-secret/

Dr. Maric is a gem that came out of the disaster of COVID. Thank you Dr Maric for all you do.

Hello Dr Marik, I have been operated for glioblastome on the 4th of March 2025. After that I had the ‘standard’ radiation en TMZ chemo therapy. That finished the end of November. I had MRI scans in august, december, march and this june. I am having MBZ and IVM since june last year. And doxycycline since september.

The august, dec, march MRI scan was good and stable. I started rhe swap between MBZ and doxy for one month since this March. My last MRI scan was not ok. The suspission is that the glioblastome tumor is regrowing. A suspission since it could still be damage by the radiation of last year but biggest chance is the recovering tumor. So now I continu with the swap between MBZ and doxy and hope it will work.

Furthermore a new operation will be done. I don’t know yet if they will provide TMZ and radiation again.

The question is:

What would be the best to do know for a fight? My dosis is 1500 mg/day MBZ (but not now: now doxy 100 mg plus 2000 mg Vit C daily) 200 mg/day doxy seems to create diarrea. Also 90 mg/day IVM. Furthermore EGCG, resveratrol, metformine, atorvastine, K2, sink, vit D3, sulforaan, melatonine (now 40mg per night).

Well I hope it wilm kill the bloody cancer cells.

Thanks for all your research!

Kind regards,

Steven Verhagen

Please see my post on 'Approach to repurposed drugs..." it has an approach to almost all cancers including CLL.

Dear Steven,

I am a current breast cancer patient and have been following off-label drugs news and implementing versions for over a year now and am almost clear (I was at stage 4 a year ago). I follow a WhatsApp cancer group that shares a lot of updates and information about off-label drugs and their effect on cancer. One medication that was recommended for brain cancer and brain mets from other cancers like breast, renal, and many others is Albendazole. It is very effective at crossing the blood brain barrier. See the protocol shared by Randy: https://randysprotocol.com/

My prayers are with you.

Regards,

Amanda

Thank you for addressing the effects of doxy on the microbiome. I read a lot of articles where the subject matter presents a question that any even mildly informed reader would have, but that question is ignored. Here we have a pro-doxy piece. My first thought was "it's an antibiotic, what about its effect on gut bacteria?". You went there, thank you. That indicates a highly credible writer.

Thank you Dr Marik, About 10 years ago or so, I remember reading about a rheumatologist having good success using Doxycycline for his rheumatoid arthritis patients.

I am taking it, 100 mg, once a day alternating monthly with MBZ. When I take it, I keep my dairy and calcium 2 hours away on either side, which means I take all my other pills with high fat meals and the doxycycline while doing the intermittent fasting part of the day. I heard that calcium can reduce its effectiveness. I have plenty of probiotics with homemade keifer, l. reuteri yogurt, and other things. I have n I t had any digestive issues. Thank you, Olga, for letting us know it can be ordered from India. I will see if I can get metformin there also. The dr that gave me earlier prescriptions said he will no longer prescribe these off label. This is all part of my doing The Metabolic Trap for terminal cancer.

I’ve ordered metformin from alldaychemist in India as well, though it was the sustained (extended) release formulation. I’m not sure which formulation Dr. Marik suggests. They might have both but definitely pay attention when you order. SR and XR both mean extended release.

I took lots of doxycycline for Lyme disease at higher doses than suggested here but always with probiotics that had multiple strains.

Minocycline had an undesirable side effect for me on the first day, so I had to stop it. It disconnected my brain from my body. I don’t remember the medical term for it. I would want to walk across the room to pick up a pencil, but my body wouldn’t go, or would take a long time to react. Any amount of will to do something was met with, “Nah, I’m good.” Excellent info on doxycycline though.

Bottom line, what impact does doxycycline have on the microbiome? If it works as all other antibiotics, this remains a substantial problem - unless a fix can be identified. Solve one serious problem BUT create another.........?

Unfortunately I have a horrible side effect if I take Doxycyline. I get the most violent headaches.
